Hi, Im John Seru and I’m a 3d artist, heres a little about myself…
I started in 2000 when I learnt a little on 3d studio max while I was working as a self empolyed roofer, I then decided to head in to school and attended the University of Hertfordshire. I studied digital modelling and animation and after Uni, I started working for Jagex Ltd as a 3d Artist. After a year in the company I moved up to lead modeller on a new project, I also helped in a large amount of concept design, mostly charachters.
In 2006 I decide it was time to follow my passion and Have a crack at the movies, and I was lucky enough to get one of the six places going at the National Film and Television school. there I was very fortunate to learn from respected industry heads, Graham brown, Neil Gorton and Chris Holmes. These people taught me pyrotechnics, prostetics and 3d workflow, and in the process the school gave me the oppotunity to use these new skills on a varity of pieces which the school produces. As a direct result of being at the school, I got to work on the BBC’s flagship drama “Waking the dead” on four seperate occasions, doing pyrotechnics and digital work.
In the middle of october 2007, just after graduating, I was lucky enough to start work for one of the best post-houses in soho, london, I got a job at Double Negative (www.dneg.com). I now work here as a TD, doing modelling, texturing and lighting for films, and I’m enjoying it a lot!
I shall attempt to update this when new stuff happens to me!
